Mills St Drainage and Traffic Upgrade

The City of Unley will soon be carrying out a stormwater drainage upgrade, followed by a traffic upgrade in Mills Street, Clarence Park.

Impacted residents will be provided advance notice of works via mail.

Prior to Council’s stormwater works commencing, SA Water are required to make some alterations to the water services. SA Water’s respective Contractor will notify all residents with specifics around the timing and staging of their works, along with their contact details. At this point in time, the SA Water service alteration works are anticipated to occur between June - July 2021.

Council’s stormwater upgrade works are scheduled to commence after the completion of the SA Water works (i.e. late June 2021 - early July 2021).

The stormwater upgrade works involve installing a new stormwater pipe and pit network, from East Avenue to Goodwood Road (including Churchill Avenue from Mills Street to Hammond Street). All existing Side Entry Pits (SEPs) within the existing verge areas will be upgraded from single pits to double pits, for more efficient stormwater drainage.

Following the drainage works, the Contractor will be undertaking some traffic upgrades to the existing chicanes and road humps along Mills Street. Unfortunately, these works will result in some inconveniences and possible temporary road closures to the public during working hours. This will be managed with appropriate traffic management in place. The Contractor will work with residents on a day-by-day basis for access and egress of their property.

A residents' notification letter will also be sent by Council’s Contractor (Camco) closer to the commencement of their works. Their letter will provide information including timing and approximate completion dates for the various stages of work. The Contractor will be onsite each day and will communicate with all residents throughout the project.

Our objective is to ensure this work is carried out with the minimum of fuss and inconvenience. If you have any concerns about this project, please contact the City of Unley Project Manager during working hours on 8372 5111.
