Today being 21st March is officially
Australia's Harmony Day, which celebrates cultural diversity
and promotes acceptance, inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all,
regardless of cultural, religious and/or linguistic background.
The continuing message of Harmony Day is 'Everyone
Belongs', and given the recent Christchurch events it seems more important
than ever to share this message, pause and reflect on our personal and
collective values and embrace differences by celebrating the many, many
benefits that cultural diversity brings to our communities.
The City of Unley, Harmony Day has been celebrated
throughout this week and have connected with 220 local school students from
9 schools to provide a series of thoughtful and inspiring activities.
These have included performances by ActNow Theatre and Reconciliation SA on racism
and “Generation of Change”, along with a free community screening of the
incredibly moving Australian film, Jasper Jones
