Goodwood Rd overpass (walkway)

Now that the repairs of this walkway have been completed the overall cost has been calculated to be $74,000. About half of what had been estimated. DPTI will still pick up half of the cost. After much debate DPTI have now agreed that they do own the structure ( I guess the revenue from advertising was seen as too good to miss). So was Council conned into paying $37,000 for something that was never our responsibility? Almost certainly yes!

  2. So two options. 1. re-coup the money 2. get half of the advertising revenue. Oh and 3. Do nothing. So whats the plan?

  3. In the beginning I trusted the staff from DPTI and hoped they were being honest in their communications with us. However, during the Goodwood Junction construction the residents have been let down too many times to count. Trees were destroyed unnecessarily, street scrapes destroyed and an ongoing graffiti problem that no-one wants to deal with. There is more, much of which is confidential. In the end the ratepayers of Unley have been hit hard by the construction and will be for many years into the future.

  4. 37 k to ensure children can walk to school safely, money well spent I say. So what if the council doesn't own it the residence of mills wood and Clarence park can walk/ride to the orphanage without being gunned down by bummer to bummer traffic. On unley road there are decorative lights wrapped around light poles. I'm fairly sure the council doesn't own them. All we need now is a council that ISNT proud of 100 years of dirt rust and moss

  5. Council were prepared to spend $140,000 to get the job done quickly and expediently to achieve the outcome you describe, a very worthwhile one. However, it should have been DPTI managing the process and Unley contributing an agreed share. Same should happen with the walkway under the bridge.. It is in a shameful condition, Steph Key has been working on this for some time and hopefully something will be done while it is still serviceable.
