Another reason to divert the freight trains.

I received an email this morning from members of the Train Diversion Committee. The Belair fire last Saturday is believed to have been caused by a freight train as it passed through the park. While the short term solution might be to stop the trains running on days of extreme heat (catastrophic danger) a longer term and safer option would be to divert the trains through an alternate route that did not involve the Adelaide Hills. It is time governments (state and federal) considered this a viable option and looked for funding opportunities to ensure this can happen.
