CITY OF UNLEY TO HOST STAGE 2 OF THE 2015 SANTOS TOUR DOWN UNDER

The City of Unley is thrilled to have won its bid to host a stage of the 2015 Santos Tour
Down Under (TDU). The Stage 2 Start of the TDU will be held on Adelaide’s premier retail strip, King William Road at the Opey Avenue intersection, on Wednesday, January 21 at 11am.
City of Unley Chief Executive Peter Tsokas welcomed the news that the City of Unley
would again host a stage of the major sporting event.
“The Tour has become a much-loved and well-attended event on Unley’s calendar for the
past 14 years,” Mr Tsokas said.
“Local businesses and residents should be delighted that we have again been bestowed
the honour of hosting a Stage of the Tour. It showcases our wonderful City and brings the
community together to celebrate one of the world’s biggest cycling events.”
The immensely popular and highly successful Unley Gourmet Gala, run each year on the
eve of Unley’s Tour Stage, will also be held again. The event is an opportunity for retailers
and restaurants to showcase their finest gourmet produce, wine and fashion in a lively
street party, and will be held on Tuesday, January 20.
“King William Road will be buzzing with activity across the two days and we anticipate
thousands of people will attend the festivities, providing a huge economic boost to the
area,” Mr Tsokas said.
“The 2014 Gourmet Gala attracted more than 20,000 visitors and delivered a $725 550
economic benefit to Unley businesses. We’ll now start seeking partners for this exciting
Adelaide event to ensure we attract even more people in 2015.”
