Adelaide's hastily prepared 30-year Transport Plan delivers too little too late

Not often I agree with something in the Advertiser but this morning Kevin O'Leary was spot on. He discusses the benefit of rerouting the freight trains via Truro (cost $700 million), not much more than the Adelaide oval upgrade. The benefits of getting the trains out of the city are stated as;
  • better support for industrial and employment growth north of the city
  • eliminating the health impacting noise for residents living close to the line
  • more efficient operation of the passenger trains
  • free up strategic land for development
  • open up better access to passenger services to the Adelaide Hills
  • facilitate  double track running of the Belair (and further)trains
This, of course, fits well with the views of almost everyone in Goodwood South.
